Sri Lankan Navy arrests four people for illegally entering into IMBL in boat

The Sri Lankan Navy has allegedly arrested four persons, including a Sri Lankan businessman, who had fled from Rameswaram to Mannar by boat.

According to police sources, a businessman named Aingaran, 34, a native of the Mannar region in Sri Lanka, fearing the legal proceedings in the cases that were were pending against him in the Mannar district, allegedly escaped to Rameswaram via boat.

In Ramanathapuram district, he had allegedly stayed in a rented house with his family.

As the legal investigation against Aingaran in Sri Lanka had concluded and he was about to be acquitted of the charges, he decided to return to Sri Lanka.

Subsequently, on Sunday morning, Aingaran left from the Rameswaram coastal area in a boat for Mannar.

In this attempt, Aingaran and three others were intercepted and arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy.

Police sources said they were awaiting information about the other three persons who were arrested with the Sri Lankan national.
