IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu on Friday appealed to the corporate sector to extend a helping hand to families affected by Cyclone Montha and heavy rains following that.
Urging them to organise relief and rehabilitation camps, particularly in Bhupalpally and Peddapalli districts, he emphasised the need for collective efforts to support people who have suffered extensive losses due to the calamity. He asked industries as part of their corporate social responsibility to provide essential commodities, medicines and medical assistance to those in distress.
In letters addressed to several companies, Mr. Sridhar Babu said while the government is taking all necessary steps to provide relief, additional support from private and corporate sectors would greatly accelerate the recovery process for those affected. He stressed the importance of helping the affected families rebuild their lives with dignity. Standing crops were destroyed in several areas and harvested produce such as paddy and maize had been damaged by rainwater while in transit or stored in markets, the Minister’s office said.
