The SRM University-AP expanded and modernised its Medical Centre, boosting its capacity to deliver 24/7 healthcare support for students, faculty and staff.

The Medical Centre, which operates with five full-time doctors, including a paediatrician, is supported by seven trained nursing staff and emergency care personnel. With the upgrade, the facility has expanded from a two-bedded unit to an eight-bedded facility, equipped with other semi advanced diagnostic and treatment equipment.

To strengthen diagnostic services, the University has partnered with Apollo Diagnostics, Durga Labs and Ramesh Labs in Mangalagiri. While the University aims to provide maximum treatment on campus, students requiring advanced investigations such as X-rays, scans or specialist intervention are referred to Manipal Hospital or NRI Hospital, with complete transport support arranged by the university.

Vice-Chancellor Ch. Satish Kumar said that the health and well-being of students and staff was paramount. “The upgraded Medical Centre is a vital step in supporting our learning community,” he said.

Student Affairs director (retired Major General) Gurdeep Singh Narang said all students were covered under health insurance, which allows for cashless admission for the first 24 hours at partner hospitals, addressing the university’s safety and support ecosystem. He said in addition to treatment services, the university actively promotes health awareness and community wellbeing. Regular medical and wellness camps were conducted for students, staff, and neighbouring communities.

Eye check-ups, dental camps, dermatology consultations, general health screenings, gynaecology camps and women’s health awareness sessions focusing on PCOS, HPV vaccination, cervical cancer, and other cancers will be conducted. The university also plans to organise awareness talks by medical experts on gastrointestinal cancer prevention, lifestyle disorders, and dermatology.

The Medical Centre team, in collaboration with the Student Affairs office, will conduct health camps for children from Classes 1 to 5 at Kuragallu PHC school.
