Chief Minister M.K. Stalin inaugurated the DMK’s Kovilpatti town office and unveiled the statue of his father and late Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on the party office premises on Ilaiyarasanenthal Road here on Tuesday night.

Mr. Stalin, who arrived here by road from Madurai around 9 p.m., unveiled the life-size statue of the late leader on the premises of party office christened ‘Kalaignar Arivagam’.

He also inaugurated the library in the party office.

Ministers K.N. Nehru, K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran, Thangam Thennarasu, Periyakaruppan, Rajakannappan and P. Geetha Jeevan, MP Kanimozhi, Thoothukudi Mayor Jegan Periyasamy received Mr. Stalin.

As the Chief Minister participates in the function to be held at Tenkasi on Wednesday for inaugurating the completed projects and laying foundation stone for new schemes, he unveiled the statue here while travelling to Tirunelveli for the overnight stay in his son-in-law’s house at Vadakku Ariyanayagipuram near Mukkoodal in the district.
