The management of Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL) has asked the workers of the company to step up coal production and dispatches in November to achieve 72 lakh tonnes (7.2 million tonnes) of coal production to plug the loss in production due to heavy rains.

In a meeting with all the Area General Managers of the company here on Thursday, Chairman and Managing Director of SCCL N. Balram said an average of 2.4 lakh tonnes of coal production was needed every day this month to achieve the target of 72 lakh tonnes. For that, the removal of 13.75 lakh cubic meters of overburden was also required every day.

Mr. Balram stated that heavy rains throughout the monsoon season had affected the coal production badly in the first half of the financial year and stepped up production and dispatches of coal from now on would only help the company achieve the target of 72 million tonnes of coal production this year (2025-26).

According to the company authorities, the company could achieve 32.63 million tonnes of coal production in the first seven months of the current fiscal against 33.84 million tonnes achieved during the corresponding period last year. Similarly, the coal dispatches in the first seven months this year were 33.37 million tonnes against 34.71 million tonnes during the first seven months of the last fiscal.

On taking up coal production in new mines, the CMD stated that all clearances were secured for the Kothagudem V.K. open cast mine and at least six lakh tonnes of coal production was being expected from it by March-end. He instructed the authorities concerned to focus on securing clearances of other mines as the management was planning to commence production in at least four mines this year.
