Devotees thronged the Sri Subramanyeshwara Swamy Temple at Siddalingapura village on the Mysuru–Bengaluru Highway on Wednesday on the occasion of ‘Subramanya Shasthi’.

People from Mysuru, Mandya and neighbouring villages visited the temple and offered prayers. The shrine was specially decorated for the event, and the doors were opened to devotees in the early hours after the performance of Shasthi-related rituals.

This was the first jathra after the recent renovation of the temple, resulting in a larger-than-usual turnout. In previous years, celebrations were limited to the temple premises owing to renovation work.

Traffic on the temple road was diverted to facilitate the movement of devotees, many of whom were also seen performing puja to anthills in nearby areas. The police had been deployed for traffic and crowd management.
