A suspected kidney racket operating out of Madanapalle of Annamayya district created a flutter on Wednesday (November 12, 2025), after a 35-year-old woman, Yamuna, from Madhurawada locality of Visakhapatnam, was reported dead.
According to preliminary information, a trio identified as Pelli Padma, Kakarla Satya, and Venkatesh reportedly enticed Yamuna under the pretext of getting her a lucrative job in Madanapalle. Thus, she was brought to Madanapalle all the way from Visakhapatnam. After a couple of days, both her kidneys were reportedly removed through a surgical procedure at a private hospital in Madanapalle.
Initially, Yamuna’s husband lodged a complaint with the Visakhapatnam police after she failed to return home, despite a week having passed amid unanswered phone calls. The police were said to have traced the last location of her mobile to a private hospital in Madanapalle, where she was suspected to have undergone the alleged illegal removal of both her kidneys, and later succumbed to a breakdown of health.
Against this backdrop, the parents and husband of Yamuna alleged that the hospital management had neither informed them about her death nor shown her body. “We are probing the details as to when the alleged incident took place, when the victim died, and where was her body and who the culprits are. The parents of the deceased have arrived here to lodge a formal complaint,” a police officer in Madanapalle said.
