The Tamil Nadu Labour Welfare Board has announced that all organised sector employers, including factories, transport, food, and plantation companies, must pay the workers’ welfare fund for 2025 by January 31, 2026. Under the Tamil Nadu Labour Welfare Fund Act, each worker contributes ₹20, while employers add ₹40, totalling ₹60 per worker.
The fund supports various schemes, including educational assistance, marriage and death benefits, funeral aid, spectacles, textbooks, sewing machines, and computer training. Workers earning up to ₹35,000 per month (pay plus DA) are eligible for educational scholarships. Applications must reach the Secretary, Tamil Nadu Labour Welfare Board, Chennai-06, by December 31, 2025. Forms can be obtained from the Board’s office or downloaded from www.twb.tn.gov.in.
