A Tahsildar and Joint Sub-Registrar of Pedda Vangara mandal in Mahabubabad district, along with his private car driver, were arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹15,000 on Friday.

The accused officer, Veeraganti Mahendar, was trapped by the ACB Warangal Range at around 4.22 p.m., after demanding a bribe from a complainant to process land registration related to succession of ancestral agricultural property. The bribe was allegedly accepted through his private car driver, identified as Thuppani Goutham. It was claimed that the money was sought to facilitate registration of agricultural land in favour of the complainant’s husband.

The tainted amount was recovered from Goutham, following which both the Tahsildar and his driver were arrested and produced before the special court for SPE and ACB cases in Warangal. The investigation is ongoing, and the identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.

Meanwhile, the ACB urged citizens to report any demand for bribes by public servants on its toll-free helpline 1064, or via social media platforms including WhatsApp, Facebook and X (formerly Twitter), assuring that the complainant’s identity will remain confidential.
