The Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) president and former Union Minister Anbumani Ramadoss on Thursday (October 30, 2025), said that talks are going on regarding the alliance for the 2026 Assembly elections.
The PMK president inspected the 100-acre Chettichavadi dump yard of Salem Corporation. Addressing the reporters, Mr. Anbumani said that 12 lakh people are residing in Salem Corporation limits and 550 metric tonnes of garbage is generated per day. The garbage dumped at Chettichavadi was allegedly burnt. One kilometre away from this dump yard, the Corporation is pumping drinking water and allegedly supplying polluted water to the public, he said. People residing within the 6-km radius, particularly the elderly and children, are affected. “The groundwater is polluted as well. If this issue is not sorted out, PMK will dump the garbage at the Corporation office and at the house of Corporation officials,” Mr. Anbumani added.
Stating that if rainwater in Yercaud was stored, drinking water could be supplied to the Salem Corporation, he said and added that the PMK had been fighting to close the TASMAC outlets for 40 years. Due to the PMK protest, time regulation was implemented. Out of 11 liquor factories in Tamil Nadu, seven are allegedly run by DMK party members.
The DMK promised to implement monthly power bill system before elections but is now saying that after smart meter installation only monthly power bill could be implemented. The price of a smart meter is ₹4,000 but the government is allegedly trying to purchase it for ₹15,000 per smart meter. The government is to procure three crore smart meters. This is big corruption and corruption prevails in every department in this DMK government. Under the DMK regime, rivers one by one are allegedly dying. Every day thousands of vehicles are looting natural resources in Tamil Nadu. DMK always does corruption scientifically, Mr. Anbumani alleged.
Responding to a question on internal issues in PMK, Mr. Anbumani said that there are six more months for the Assembly elections and before that every issue will be sorted out. “Regarding alliance, talks are going on, and soon we will announce. The DMK government will be unseated definitely,” he added.
