Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday (November 12, 2025) congratulated veteran art director Thotta Tharani on being chosen for the Chevalier de L’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (The Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters) by the French government.
In a post on X, Mr. Stalin said the announcement of the prestigious honour has doubled the joy, especially after Mr. Tharani recently gifted a painting of social reformer Periyar E.V. Ramasamy to the University of Oxford.
Mr. Stalin said Mr. Tharani, an alumnus of the Government College of Fine Arts, has brought great pride by joining the distinguished list of Indian personalities who have received this honour.
