The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has begun holding mandal- level review meetings in Parvatipuram-Manyam district to gear up cadres for the ensuing local body elections, likely in March-April 2026.

The party is keen to regain its foothold at the grassroot level as it had faced defeat in all constituencies of the district in the 2019 local body elections when the YSRCP won over 90% of the Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC), and Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) seats. The party is careful about the local body elections given that the YSRCP won the Araku Parliament seat in the 2024 general elections although the NDA alliance parties won Saluru, Parvatipuram, Kurupam and Palakonda Assembly segments which are part of the Araku Parliament segment.

Kurupam TDP MLA Thoyaka Jagadeeswari held party review meetings recently in Kurupam, Gummalakshmipuram, Jiyyammavalasa, Komarada and Garugubilli. She directed the party’s local leaders and activists to win the hearts of the people by explaining the developmental activities in the constituency and effective implementation of ‘Super Six’ and other welfare schemes in the segment.

She asked them to highlight development of improved road connectivity to all villages in the constituency while interacting with people during election campaign.

Speaking to the media, she said that the people’s grievances are being addressed through the ‘Praja Darbars’ organised in all mandals of the constituency.  She added that people will vote for the TDP when the government takes care of them and resolve their problems quickly

“The previous Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy government misused the official machinery during the last local body elections. That is why; it won the maximum number of seats. But this time the TDP will win over 95% seats easily under the effective administration of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s government,” Ms. Jagadeeswari added.

Minister for Tribal Welfare Gummadi Sandhya Rani (Saluru) and Parvatipuram MLA Bonela Vijaya Chandra expressed confidence that the TDP would win a majority of seats unanimously.

Palakonda MLA of Jana Sena Party Nimmaka Jayakrishna has been holding meetings in villages. He has been trying to strengthen coordination among the cadres of the alliance parties of the TDP and the BJP.
