TDP leaders submitted a representation to the Crime Investigation Department (CID) probing the Tirumala Parakamani misappropriation case to expedite the case by delving deeper into the conspiracy and by questioning the senior politicians and officials alleged to have a role in the embezzlement.
The party’s top brass called on the CID Director General of Police (DGP) Ravi Shankar Ayyanar at the SIT office here on Wednesday and submitted a representation seeking an in-depth probe into the alleged role of the two successive TTD Chairpersons and senior officials in the case.
The team of leaders who met the DGP included polit bureau member Varla Ramaiah, Knowledge Centre chairman G. Malyadri, A.P. State Biodiversity Board Chairman Neelayapalem Vijayakumar, SAAP Chairman A. Ravi Naidu, A.P. Yadava Welfare Corporation Chairman G. Narasimha Yadav, TUDA Chairman C. Divakar Reddy and Tirupati constituency in-charge M. Sugunamma
Tracking the sequence of incidents where the accused clerk C.V. Ravi Kumar had embezzled a bundle of dollar notes offered to the Srivari Hundi, the leaders wondered how a reserve police official could represent a mammoth organisation like the TTD in lodging a complaint at the local police station and expressed surprise at the lackadaisical response of the department to the case. They also pointed out that the entire episode had been hushed up and the probe completed within a month’s time.
Mr. Ramaiah said that the case was treated as an ordinary case and referred to the Lok Adalat and suspected that pressure had been exerted on the authorities from higher quarters. Similarly, he also sought the role of the TTD Chairman or the then Executive Officer in issuing orders to get the case closed at the earliest.
Mr. Vijayakumar expressed shock at the manner in which the authorities had accepted landed properties from the accused ‘in lieu of the crime committed’ and quizzed if the process followed was acceptable under law.
