Telangana GP Elections-2025: 25,654  nominations received for 4,236 Sarpanch posts, 70% filed on last day

A total of 25,654  nominations were received for 4,236 Sarpanch posts and 82,276 for 37,440 Ward Member posts which would go to polls under the first phase of Telangana Gram Panchayat Elections—2025.

Filing of nominations began at 10.30 a.m. on Thursday (November 27, 2025) and ended at 5 p.m. Saturday (November 29). However, the process got stretched into the night in some districts, including Gadwal, as a large number of people turned up with their papers on the last day. 

Of the total 25,654 nominations filed for the Sarpanch posts on the three days, 70% (17,940) were received on Saturday, and 85% (70,596) of the 82,276 for the Ward Member position, as per Telangana State Election Commission’s report. The last date to withdraw the nominations is (3 p.m.) Wednesday (December 3, 2025). The list of the contesting candidates would be published on the same day.

The Gram Panchayat polls would be held in three phases — first phase on December 11, second on December 14 and the third on December 17. 

The nominations for the second phase would be received from Sunday (November 30, 2025) morning till 5 p.m. of Tuesday. Altogether, the elections would be held for 12,728 Sarpanch and 1,12,242 Ward Member posts.
