Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu denied negligence on the part of the State government in expanding the road between Moinabad in Rangareddy and Manneguda in Vikarabad on National Highway 163. The site where a tipper lorry hit a Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) bus killing 19 people, lies on the stretch.
He said that the State Government presented its arguments effectively before the National Green Tribunal (NGT). And, as a result, the NGT recently delivered a favourable decision. “We have now initiated the road expansion works, and we commit to completing them within 18 months and making the road accessible to the public,” he said after visiting the accident site on Monday (November 3, 2025).
He said that certain individuals had filed petitions with the NGT, which stalled the road expansion works for several months. “It has unfortunately become a habit for the opposition to politicise every issue. Even in the face of such a tragic accident, attempting to turn it into a political controversy is neither appropriate nor ethical. I leave it to the wisdom of the people to judge,” he said.
