Speaking at Sardar@150 Unity March, he says India’s first deputy prime minister liberated them from the Nizam’s oppressive rule
The four-crore people in Telangana should be grateful to India’s first deputy prime minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel for liberating them from the brutality of the Razakars during the Nizam’s rule, said Union Minister of Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy at the Sardar@150 Unity March here on Sunday.
Conducted by different organisations, including Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), marking the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel here on Sunday, the march witnessed the participation of a large number of BJP workers, followers, officials and the general public. The event was held from the Shivaji statue in Sitaphalmandi to the Gandhi statue in Chilakalguda.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kishan Reddy said, “It was the great Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel who liberated us (Telangana people) from that plight. He was the leader who united the Hyderabad State with India through Operation Polo and gave true freedom to our Telangana,” he said.
“It is no exaggeration to say that there is no person in the history of Telangana equal to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The services he rendered and the historic decisions he took for the future of this land and the people of this region are unparalleled,” Kishan Reddy added.
Remembering Sardar Patel’s pivotal role in shaping modern India, particularly his deep association with the Telangana region, BJP State unit president N. Ramchander Rao said Patel’s firm decision had brought an end to the “repressive” Nizam government. He added that the Nizam’s attempts to join Pakistan and the hardships faced by the people at that time were overturned only because of Sardar Patel’s resolute stand.
Mr.Rao also praised the nearly 100 BJYM leaders and cadres for undertaking a yatra to the Statue of Unity, despite falling off a bus during the yatra, on the occasion.
