The Konaraopet police on Wednesday (November 26, 2025) arrested three persons, including a self-styled sadhu, on the charges of duping a person of nearly ₹4 lakh by tricking him on the pretext of performing ‘special rituals’ to unearth a ‘hidden treasure of gold’.
Acting on a complaint lodged by one Venu of Nizamabad village in Konraopet mandal, the Konaraopet police under the supervision of Chandurthi Inspector of Police Venkateshwarlu nabbed the three accused in Nizamabad village on Wednesday.
The police identified the arrested trio as Mekala Naresh, Kadavancha Prasad and Sadhula Devender of Rajanna Sircilla district.
The police recovered ₹3 lakh from the possession of the arrested trio.

They allegedly enacted a ‘snake bite’ drama while performing a ‘fake ritual’ at Venu’s house and forced the latter to pay an additional amount of ₹15,000 on the pretext of treatment expenses.
