A thief went away with valuable items worth ₹3.9 lakh from a house in Mallur village in Kapu taluk of Udupi district on Thursday, December 4, by accessing the house key kept in the electricity meter box.
In the complaint to the Kapu police, complainant Raghavendra Kini, a housekeeping staff member of ISPRL’s Padur unit, said he left for work on December 4 along with his mother and dropped the latter off at his sister’s house. His wife left the house at 9.45 a.m. to attend their children’s school day function. She had kept the house keys in the electricity meter box.
The thief has used the house key to enter the house between 9.45 a.m. and 1.10 p.m. He made away with gold ornaments and silver articles worth ₹3.9 lakh, Mr. Kini stated in the complaint.
The Kapu police have registered a case for offences under Sections 331(3) and 305 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Efforts are on to find the thief, the police said.
