
Devotees visiting Sri Amanalingeswarar Temple near Thirumoorthy Dam in Tiruppur have been restricted from going to the nearby Panchalinga waterfalls for the last few days due to heavy flow.

TIRUPPUR The water level in Thirumoorthy Dam stood at 53.3 feet on Tuesday, against the maximum of 60 feet.
The storage was 1,456 mcft against the maximum of 1,744 mcft. The level rose by more than two feet in a day. The level stood at 51.16 feet on Monday, with an inflow of 1,084 cusecs and discharge of 463 cusecs.
On Tuesday, the inflow was 984 cusecs, and the discharge was maintained at 24 cusecs.
Since the water continued to flow at high force for the third day on Tuesday, devotees visiting Sri Amanalingeswarar Temple near the Thirumoorthy Dam were not permitted to go to the Panchalinga Falls.
There were signs of rainfall abating in the catchment areas on Tuesday. Permission for devotees to visit the waterfalls on Wednesday will hinge on the force of the flow, HR and CE Department sources said.
Other dams in the PAP (Parambikulam Aliyar Project) system were close to brimming, as per Tuesday readings.
Water level in Sholayar Dam was 145 feet against maximum of 160 feet, and the storage was 4,239 mcft against the capacity of 5,046 mcft.
In Parambikulam Dam, water level stood at 70.1 feet against the maximum of 72 feet, with storage of 13,019 tmcft against the capacity of 13,454 mcft.
Likewise, in Aliyar Dam, the level was high at 115.1 feet against the maximum of 120 feet. The storage was 3,521 mcft against the capacity of 3,864 mcft.
