The State government has given administrative sanction of ₹5 crore for taking up works to improve the facilities on the Thirumullavaram beach, which forms part of the Kollam-Thangassery Coastal Tourism Circuit and Fort Renovation Project.
This was one of the tourism projects that was proposed during the Nava Kerala Sadas held at the Kollam Assembly constituency. Tourism Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas said on Saturday that the completion of the project will strengthen the beach tourism in the area.
Thirumullavaram and Thangassery have traditionally been a major tourist attraction of Kollam, famed for their beauty and history. Ramping up the facilities on the beach has been a long-pending need, the Minister added. The project includes electronics, electrical, and civil works, said a statement here on Saturday.
