BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran courting arrest at Tirupparankundram in Madurai on December 4, 2025

Stopped by Madurai City Police from proceeding to Tirupparankundram hill on Thursday (December 4, 2025) night, BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran termed it an insult to the judicial system.
Soon after Justice G.R. Swaminathan passed an order at the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court reiterating his direction to Sri Subramaniya Swamy Temple management to light a lamp at the Deepathoon (pillar) in Tirupparankundram, Mr. Nagenthran and his supporters arrived at the foothills.
However, the City Police guarding the hillock pathway stopped them and the petitioners, saying an appeal was being filed in the case. Mr. Nagenthran told journalists: “We are law-abiding citizens. But, even when we approach the State with a court order, they are not listening to us. This can be nothing but an insult to the judicial system and courts.”
Advocate Arun Swaminathan, representing the petitioner. Rama. Ravikumar, said the police were refusing to comply with the court order.
The police then detained Mr. Nagenthran, senior BJP leader H. Raja and others.
