Collector K. Elambahavath has launched an initiative on Friday by planting palm seeds at Government Higher Secondary School in Mudivaithanendal, marking the beginning of a programme to plant 50,000 palm seeds in all schools of Thoothukudi district.
Addressing the students, Mr. Elambahavath highlighted the unique qualities of palm trees, noting that they have remarkable ability to thrive even in extremely drought-prone areas. He added that it was heartening to see over 200 palm seeds have been planted in the school, as part of the initiative.
District Forest Officer M. Ilayaraja, Chief Educational Officer Chidambaranathan and other officials were present at the event.
