Three children drown in canal in Srirangapatna; one more missing

In a tragic incident, three children from Mysuru drowned in a canal in Mandyadakoppalu village in Srirangapatna near Mysuru on Saturday (November 1, 2025) evening while another is reported missing.

Police in Mandya said the children from an Islamic seminary from Udayagiri police station limits in Mysuru were part of a group of 15 persons, mostly students and one teacher, who visited the water body near Sri Cauvery Boredevara Temple on Saturday (November 1).

While six persons including a teacher were swept away in the canal, two including a teacher were rescued.

While the bodies of three girls were retrieved during an overnight rescue operation with the help of locals, one more girl is missing, police said.

The deceased girls are aged around 13-14 years old, according to a statement in Mysuru.

Personnel from Fire and Emergency Services are continuing search operation.
