The Kerala Police arrested three suspects from Sivakasi in Virudhunagar district on Sunday under charges of printing ‘degree’ certificates using fake seals and issuing the certificates to passport holders for overseas jobs.
Following a complaint, the Malapuram district police had detained a few persons in Kerala and interrogated them after it was found that some flyers had used fake degree certificates in the name of universities in Kerala and Bangalore and among others.
Discreet probe showed that the persons had connection with a person in Sivakasi. Hence, they had clandestinely printed ‘degree’ certificates and issued it to job seekers, it was said.
A team of police officers from Kerala camped in Sivakasi and monitored the movements of the suspects. They arrested Jainulabdeen, 40, son of Fakrudeen, Venkatesh, 24, son of Selvam Kuppusami and Arvind Kumar, 24, son of Kanagaraj from Sivakasi. They were produced before a Magistrate court here and later taken to Kerala for further probe.
The team also seized a computer, some fake degree certificates and seals purportedly from the premises of the accused persons, police said.
