Police have arrested three people for allegedly murdering a 34-year-old man during a drunken brawl in South Bengaluru’s Thyagarajanagar.

The victim has been identified as Suresh, 45, who worked as a daily wage labourer.

On Thursday, the police arrested Velu, 53, Stephan Raju, 27, and Prathap, 24, in connection with Suresh’s death.

According to the police, Suresh sustained severe injuries and was admitted to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries on Thursday afternoon.

Raju and Prathap worked for Velu at a hotel near Thyagarajanagar, the police said. Suresh, a friend of Prathap, had accompanied him to a party with Velu and Raju on Wednesday. The group drank at a bar, during which a trivial argument broke out. After stepping out of the bar, the fight escalated, and one of the accused allegedly struck Suresh on the head with a beer bottle and continued to assault him. He was later shifted to a nearby hospital.

Suresh died due to severe head injuries, following which the Banashankari police arrested the accused who have been booked under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
