Three persons, including a couple, were electrocuted when a high- tension power cable snapped and fell on them at Sathamangalam near Keerapalayam in Cuddalore district on Sunday.
The police gave the names of the deceased as Mariam Susai, 70, his wife Felos Mary, 60, and their relative Vanathas Mary, 70.
The police said that owing to heavy rain and strong winds, a tamarind tree uprooted and fell on an overhead power cable, which snapped and fell in turn on the three sitting in front of their house at Sathamangalam. They died on the spot. The bodies were sent to the Chidambaram Government Hospital for post-mortem.
A case has been registered.
