Three members of a family were killed and six others injured, two of them seriously, when a speeding truck-mounted borewell rig rammed into a mini pickup truck at Gopalapuram crossroads in Elkaturthy mandal of Hanamkonda district in the wee hours of Friday.
The victims were identified as Swapna, 16, Kamalamma, 58, and Srinath, 6. They hailed from Sudanpalle village in Kuravi mandal of Mahabubabad district.
They were part of a marriage party and met with a tragic end while returning home from a post-wedding ceremony held at the bridegroom’s native village in Siddipet district.
The truck-mounted rig, travelling at a high speed, crashed into the pickup truck from behind, killing the trio, leaving other occupants of the vehicle injured.
The injured were rushed to a hospital in Warangal. The condition of two of them is said to be serious.
