In a daring robbery, three masked men attacked two Tasmac employees with iron rod and made off with ₹1.09 lakh outside a retail liquor shop at P. Thottiyankulam under Tiruchuli police station limits on Thursday night.
The police said that shop supervisor V. Chinnaraj,50, of Chellaiyapuram and salesman P. Saravanan of Katcheri, had closed the shop at around 10.30 p.m. and had came out with a bag containing the day’s collection.
Even as they were trying to get on to their motorbikes, three men, who had masked their faces with hand kerchiefs, attacked them with an iron rod.
As the employees were shocked by the ambush, the robbers snatched the bag with ₹1.09 lakh.
The assailants also snatched their mobile phones and broke them before fleeing from the scene.
The employees alerted the police after reaching the nearest shop.
Tiruchuli police have registered a case of robbery.
