Three police personnel of Pandalgudi police station were placed under suspension after a crime case accused, Balamurugan, escaped from their custody, while being taken to a jail in Kerala, on November 3.

Virudhunagar Superintendent of Police D. Kannan on Wednesday ordered the suspension of Special Sub-Inspector of Police Nagaraj and headconstables Ravijothi and Sudhakar for negligence in duty.

Balamurugan, who is wanted in around 40 cases, had been arrested by Kerala police and was remanded in a case at Viyyur central prison near Thrissur.

Just outside the jail, Balamurugan gave a slip to the police personnel and disappeared.
