In a case involving the fraudulent acquisition of a vacant plot worth about ₹4 crore in Velachery through impersonation and forged documents, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested three more suspects, following the earlier arrest of five individuals.
The land, measuring 4,230 sq. ft. and located at Vijayanagar, Velachery belongs to Vijayasamundeeswari, 59, of Hyderabad, Telangana. A group of individuals had allegedly created fake Aadhaar and PAN cards, along with forged property documents, to impersonate the owner and illegally transfer the property.
Based on Vijayasamundeeswari’s complaint filed with the Commissioner of Police on June 2, the CCB’s Land Grabbing Investigation Wing registered a case and began inquiries.
On investigation and financial document analysis, police identified and arrested, on September 16, five suspects Yasodha, 59, Palani 43, Vanitha, 40, all from Mugappair West; history-sheeter Meganathan alias Kutty, 49, of VGP Nagar, Nolambur; and Arunachalam, 42 of Ram Nagar, Velachery. Fake documents used for impersonation were seized from them.
Continuing the probe, CCB teams traced and have now arrested three more suspects- real estate brokers Padmanabhan, 43, of Choolaimedu, Ayyappan, 46, of West Tambaram, and Sukumar, 38, of Velachery, a collection agent in a private bank. All three were produced before the Egmore CCB & CBCID Court and remanded to judicial custody.
