IPR orientation workshop

A workshop to give orientation on the basics of intellectual property rights (IPR) for innovators and entrepreneurs was organised by the IPR Cell of Shrimati Indira Gandhi College in association with the Tamil Nadu State Council for Science and Technology (TNSCST) recently. N. Kumutha, Project Scientist II, Patent Information Centre, TNSCST, Chennai, elaborated on various forms of IPR such as patents, trademarks, copyrights, and industrial designs, and highlighted how effective protection of intellectual property can lead to start-up success and technological advancement. The session provided insights for members of the faculty pursuing innovative projects with awareness of legal protection and commercialisation opportunities.

Sports champions

Sumithunraj, a student of Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan College of Physical Education, Perambalur, secured first place in the 200m track event, winning the Gold Medal and a cash prize of ₹1,00,000 in the Chief Minister’s Trophy State-Level Sports Tournament – 2025 conducted by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu.

In the judo and boxing competitions, students Mukesh Pandi and Sanjay won the Bronze Medal and a cash prize of ₹50,000.

In addition to this, the women’s basketball team of Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan College of Physical Education (DSCPE) won the first place and lifted the championship trophy at the State women’s basketball tournament organised by Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University at Salem Saradha College of Physical Education.

The DSCPE football team secured second place and won the trophy in the football tournament held at Chennai YMCA College of Physical Education. G. Sanjay, V. Sanjay, Balaji, Gautham, and Sisavarathan secured first place while Faisal Rahuman and Yogithraj came second in a boxing competition organised as part of the tournament.

Language training

With a view to enhance employability skills and equip students to pursue higher studies and research abroad, German and Japanese language training classes were inaugurated at Dhanalakshmi Srinivasan University (DSU), Perambalur, recently. Special invitees Aruna and Asha spoke about the job opportunities open to engineering applicants with knowledge of German and Japanese. Karthikeyan, dean – School of Engineering and Technology, and Velmurugan, associate dean – School of Engineering and Technology, delivered special addresses.

HR management tools

The transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in the field of human resource management was the focus of a ‘Cerebral Connect’ session organised by The Gnanam School of Business (GSB), Thanjavur recently. In his address, Samik Roy Chowdhury, Assistant Vice President – Learning & Development, Reliance Jio spoke on technology tools such as personalised learning paths, automated resume screening and AI-based chatbots, among others, and how they enhance decision-making, strengthen employee engagement, and drive data-based inclusivity within organisations.

Awareness rally

Over 150 students participated in an awareness rally organised by the Anti-Drug Club of M.I.E.T. Arts and Science College in Tiruchi recently. S. Raja, Inspector of Police, Navalpattu Police Station, and J. Ilayasuriya, Medical Consultant, Tobacco Control Division, flagged off the rally. Principal, L. Glory Violet Aaron, and M. Jeyabalan, coordinator of the Anti-Drug Club spoke.
