The Tamil Nadu Government Doctors Association (TNGDA) has decided to launch agitations demanding that the Health department drop plans to redeploy posts of junior residents (JR) from various medical colleges.

At its Emergency State Executive Committee meeting, the association resolved that all 11 new government medical colleges, and Karur, Pudukottai medical colleges would take up an ‘Attention Seeking Dharna’ on Tuesday to draw the attention of the Chief Minister and Health Minister. TNGDA office bearers from nearby districts would join the agitations.

The association has demanded that the department drop plans to redeploy JR posts from medical colleges, to stop redeployment of posts of medical officers, and to post nurses, paramedical, clerical staff to all institutions. TNGDA also demanded that no new buildings should come up without doctors or staff, and no new medical colleges should be established as the State has adequate colleges and medical seats

It has planned to launch a series of agitations subsequently – to take up only National Medical Commission work and to stop all other works including extra bed (in-patient) and extra out-patient, to stop all camp works including for ‘Nalam Kaakkum Stalin’ camps , and to boycott out-patient department work.
