The Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC), Kumbakonam division, will operate 100 special buses to ferry pilgrims to the Nagore Dargah Kanduri festival, officials said on Wednesday.

The annual festival at Nagore — one of the State’s most-attended religious events — will begin with the flag-hoisting ceremony on 21 November and conclude with the chandanakoodu ritual on 30 November 2025. To facilitate the movement of devotees, the Kumbakonam division will run the special services from November 21 to December 1 2025, TNSTC Kumbakonam Managing Director K. Dasarathan said.

The special buses will operate in addition to regular services from several major towns, including Chennai, Tiruchi, Karur, Pudukkottai, Madurai, Chidambaram, Ramanathapuram, Thanjavur and Kumbakonam. Services will also be provided along the Nagapattinam–Nagore and Karaikal–Nagore corridors, the director added.

Officials said the special deployment supplements the daily fleet of 127 regular buses, which together run some 335 scheduled trips to and from the region during the period. Inquiry centres have been set up at Nagore and Nagapattinam bus stations, and monitoring officers appointed to coordinate operations and ensure smooth movement of pilgrims, Mr. Dasarathan said.

The special bus operation has been arranged under the direction of the State government and follows instructions from the Chief Minister, the Deputy Chief Minister and the Transport Minister, he added. The corporation appealed to members of the public to use the special services to avoid roadside congestion and to ensure safe, orderly travel during the festival.

Passengers seeking information on timings and boarding points have been asked to contact the inquiry counters at Nagore and Nagapattinam bus stands or the TNSTC Kumbakonam office.
