Disney and Pixar have dropped the first teaser for Toy Story 5, offering a brief but tantalising glimpse at the beloved toys’ next adventure that pits them against a high-tech threat in the age of tablets and screens. The film will release in theatres on June 19, 2026.

The teaser shows Woody, Buzz, and the rest of Bonnie’s toys reacting in fear and confusion as their young owner becomes obsessed with a new gadget — a talking tablet named Lilypad, voiced by Past Lives star Greta Lee. Described as “a playfully antagonistic presence,” Lilypad represents a new kind of rival in a world where imagination competes with technology.

Directed by Andrew Stanton, who has been part of the Toy Story universe since its inception, and co-directed by McKenna Harris, the sequel promises to explore “how our favorite team of legacy toys might respond to today’s world of technology.” Stanton said in a statement, “It’s been a hilarious and poignant journey exploring how they adapt to a world that’s changed so much.”

Tom Hanks and Tim Allen return as Woody and Buzz Lightyear, alongside Joan Cusack as Jessie and Tony Hale as Forky. New additions include Conan O’Brien as a gadget called “Smarty Pants,” while Ernie Hudson steps in as Combat Carl, a role previously voiced by the late Carl Weathers.

Toy Story 5 arrives seven years after Toy Story 4, which grossed over $1 billion globally and won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
