Trade unions stage protest in Puducherry demanding withdrawal of new labour codes

Trade unions affiliated to INDIA bloc on Wednesday held a protest demanding withdrawal of new labour codes introduced by the Central government.

Representatives of trade unions supported by farmers staged the protest near Swadeshi Cotton Mill Complex. They raised slogans against the Central government for introducing the new codes. According to trade unions, the new codes, which replaced almost 44 labour laws, would dilute their rights, deprive them of work protection and minimum labour.
