In view of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s visit to the district on Tuesday (November 25, 2025) and Wednesday (November 26, 2025), the district police have announced traffic diversions for heavy vehicles on Wednesday.
A release said that heavy vehicles on the Salem–Kochi National Highway (NH 544) bound from Salem to Coimbatore should use the Sankari, Tiruchengode, Kokkarayanpettai, Thindal and Perundurai route to re-join the highway. Vehicles on the highway travelling from Coimbatore to Salem should use the Kanjikovil Junction, Kavundapadi, Krishnapuram Junction, Amman Arts College and Chithode Bridge route and take the service road to reach Lakshmi Nagar. Vehicles from Mettur to Coimbatore should use the Anthiyur, Athani, Gobichettipalayam, Kunnathur and Perumanallur route to reach the highway.
Likewise, vehicles from Kangeyam and Arachalur should take the Chennimalai route, while those from Kandasamipalayam should use the Odanilai route. All these vehicles should use the Vadugapatti Junction. Vehicles from Vellode to Arachalur should use the Kallukadaimedu, Mariamman Kovil, Avalpoondurai and Kanagapuram route. Vehicles from Elumathur to Erode should use the Sandaikuttai, Kasipatti route, while those from Chennimalai to Arachalur should use the Kaikatti, Thalavumalai route.
The district police have asked heavy vehicle drivers to adhere to the diversions to ensure smooth flow of traffic on Wednesday.
