The district administration has notified traffic diversions to facilitate the construction of the flyover across the level-crossing between Srirangam and Town Railway Stations on Tiruchi-Chennai Chord Line.
In a press release, Collector V. Saravanan said that only light vehicles headed towards East Boulevard Road/ Gandhi Market from the Odathurai Road would be allowed to go via Chinthamani Bazaar and Sankaranpillai Road. They will take the route in the return direction too. Heavy vehicles will have to go via Old Palpannai, Gandhi Market, and Darbarmedu to reach East Boulevard Road.
The flyover is built by the State Highways Department along with the Railways on a 50:50 cost sharing basis. The level-crossing is situated on the Cauvery Road, branching off from Odathurai Road on the south bank of the Cauvery, connecting the East Boulevard Road and Gandhi Market/Thanjavur Road in the city.
