A certificate distribution function for those who completed training in goat farming organised by the Directorate of Extension Education of the Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, the Namakkal Krishi Vigyan Kendra of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and the Skill Development Corporation of the Government of Tamil Nadu was held on Thursday.
T. Sathiamoorthy, Director of Distance Education, Tamil Nadu University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (TANUVAS), presented certificates to 24 people who had completed the training.
In his keynote address, Mr. Sathiamoorthy said the TANUVAS, in collaboration with the Skill Development Corporation, has set up a project with the aim of creating skilled entrepreneurs. It is providing training for 25 days for this purpose and 2,500 people are receiving such training across Tamil Nadu, this year.
Through the Krishi Vigyan Kendra and seven veterinary medical colleges, 14 types of skill development training are being provided free of cost. Training is provided in fodder production, milk, meat products, pet grooming, meat poultry farming, and egg production. Those who successfully complete the skill training are also given an incentive of ₹6,000. Therefore, all those who want to become entrepreneurs should utilise such training courses, he added.
The skill development certificates jointly provided by the Central and State government departments will support the business of the trained people. Priority is being given to those who have received such training in government schemes. In addition to providing training, the government also provides technical facilities and bank loans. Those who have completed the training and received the certificate should become entrepreneurs, Mr. Sathiamoorthy said.
