To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the rendition of the patriotic song ‘Vande Mataram,’ the Waltair Division organised a tree plantation drive across its railway colonies on Monday. The initiative, led by Divisional Railway Manager Lalit Bohra, began with the planting of saplings at the Dolphin’s Nose Colony.
The engineering department took the lead in coordinating the plantation activities at various locations throughout the division. The drive embodied the spirit of ‘Vande Mataram’, symbolising unity, reverence for the motherland, and a commitment to preserving the nation’s natural beauty.
Addressing the participants, Mr. Lalit Bohra emphasised that the initiative represents the division’s dedication to environmental conservation and national integration through citizen participation and respect for India’s natural heritage.
ADRM (Infrastructure) E. Santharam, ADRM (Operations) K. Rama Rao, and other branch officers participated in the plantation drive.
