The veterans of the 122 Infantry Battalion, Territorial Army, who participated in the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF-OP PAWAN) mission in Sri Lanka during 1987-90 commemorated the 1,171 Indian soldiers who laid down their lives during the operation and the 3,500 injured soldiers at an event held at the Malabar Terriers Headquarters in West Hill, Kozhikode on Wednesday (November 26, 2025).

The event, held in association with Ex-Terriers Welfare Association (ETWA), included a wreath-laying ceremony and a memorial service in front of the War Memorial.

K. Karunakaran, former subedar and retired Excise Deputy Commissioner, was the chief guest at the event. Former subedar A. Rahman and other veteran soldiers paid floral tributes at the IPKF memorial.

A similar ceremony was held at the Kannur War memorial also, where former subedar major K.T. Pathrose, senior JCO of ‘C’ Company in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka, and a veteran of the 1971 Indo-Pak war, was the chief guest.
