Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) president Vijay on Wednesday (December 3, 2025) alleged that the State government’s failure to complete stormwater drain works on time had led to large-scale waterlogging in Chennai, which disrupted normal life.

In a post on X, Mr. Vijay said continuous rains in many parts of the State, particularly in Chennai, had thrown life out of gear and affected people. He said the unfinished stormwater drain works were the main reason for the waterlogging.

Even after being in power for nearly four-and-a-half years, the DMK government had failed to complete the stormwater drain works. “Had the State government shown even minimal concern for the people, such extensive waterlogging would not have occurred with a moderate spell of rain,” he said.

He urged the State government to take measures to manage the monsoon season and ensure proper drainage of rainwater. He also asked his party workers to assist people in need.
