MGM Healthcare successfully delivered twins who had a rare complication known as Monochorionic Diamniotic (MCDA) pregnancy. In MCDA the babies share a common placenta (blood supply) but have separate water sacs. This condition led to the Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS), where one twin receives excess blood flow while the other receives too little.

The medical team led by A. Jaishree Gajaraj, Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, N. Chandra Kumar, Senior Consultant and HOD of Paediatrics and Neonatology, and Radhika Ramesh, Senior Consultant of Fetal Medicine, ensured that both babies were safely delivered without any in-utero surgical interventions.

The couple had earlier consulted other hospitals in Bengaluru where they were informed that only one of the twins could be delivered and an in-utero laser intervention would be required. However, the medical team at MGM Healthcare delivered the twins through a lower-segment caesarean section.

Both the babies were nursed in the neonatal intensive care unit for more than two months and are doing fine, the press release added.î ˆ
