Two tourists from Andhra Pradesh died in a road accident near Uchipuli here on Wednesday.
According to police, a tourist van carrying devotees from Haryana who had finished their Rameswaram trip and were heading to Chennai collided head-on with a car that was traveling from Andhra Pradesh to Rameswaram on Madurai – Rameswaram National Highway at Nagachi.
Two occupants of the car from Andhra Pradesh –Pydi Sai, 23 and Naveen, 22, died on the spot. Four passengers in the car and nine passengers in the van who sustained injuries were admitted to Ramanathapuram Medical College Hospital.
Uchipuli police have registered a case and further investigation is under way.
