The Osmania University police and the East Zone Task Force have arrested two persons in connection with a murder case on December 1 at Yerrakunta Katta, Tarnaka.

DCP (East) B. Bala Swamy named the arrested as Shaik Ghouse, 43, a fish trader from Kindhi Basti, Chilkalguda, and Syed Shoaib, 32, a car driver residing in the same locality. One MD Ilyas, 20, who assisted the two, was also identified during the investigation.

“Ghouse suspected that the victim was performing black magic, which he believed was causing family problems, financial losses in his fish business, and rumours about his wife. Ghouse planned to kill the victim and involved his son-in-law Shoaib in the plan,” said the officer.

As per his plan, Shoaib called the victim on December 1 to a lane in Chilkalguda. Ghouse allegedly assaulted the victim with an iron rod, after which the two transported him in Shoaib’s car to Yerrakunta Katta, where they dumped the body, and fled.

Based on information received on December 3, teams from Osmania University police and Nallakunta police, along with the East Zone Task Force personnel, apprehended the accused. A car, two motorcycles, an iron rod, a knife, clothing worn during the offence and two mobile phones were recovered.

Police said Ghouse has previous criminal history, including a theft case in Mailardevpally in 2011, and a case registered in Banjara Hills in 2024.
