Two persons have been arrested in connection with the killing of a suspended village administrative officer whose body was found on East Coast Road late on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as T. Rajaraman, 39, of Vaazhakkarai. Mr. Rajaraman, who was suspended in connection with a 2024 bribery case, had appeared before the Nagapattinam court for the hearing on Friday.
Velippalaiyam police said Nivetha, 20, and Srikavi, 19, who were earlier named as accused and residents of Sellur Tsunami Quarters, were taken into custody after intensive enquiry. The victim’s mobile phone and wristwatch were missing from the scene, and the post-mortem is awaited.
A special task force has been formed to complete the probe. Police have asked the public with any information to contact the Velippalaiyam police station.
