Two arrested, gold chain recovered in Kalaburagi

The police have arrested two people in connection with an armed robbery case in which a man was attacked with a machete and robbed of his gold chain and cash near the Public Garden here recently.

The accused have been identified as 21-year-old Vishu Mohan Upadhya and 25-year-old Rohit, both residents of Mangarawadi Galli in Sundar Nagar.

According to the police, the incident took place on the night of October 28 near the Public Garden when Lakshmikant Chakke was attacked by the two men.

The assailants assaulted him with a machete, snatched a 10-gram gold chain worth about ₹1 lakh and some cash before fleeing the spot.

Following a complaint lodged by the victim, the police tracked down and arrested the two.

The police have recovered the stolen gold chain and the machete used in the crime from their possession. Both the accused have been remanded in judicial custody.
