SASTRA, a deemed to be university, hosted a three-day international conclave on Mathematics, Technology and AI on November 21.
According to a SASTRA release, M.S. Raghunathan, Distinguished Professor, Centre of Excellence in Basic Sciences, Mumbai, inaugurated the three-day International Conclave on “Mathematics, Technology and AI”.
M. Umamaheswari, Dean, School of Arts, Sciences, Humanities and Education, SASTRA, while welcoming the participants and guests highlighted the celebration of Fibonacci Day and emphasised that the conclave coincided with SASTRA’s commendable journey of 40 years of academic excellence and 25 years of university status.
G. Hariharan, convenor of the conclave, delivered the felicitation address and introduced all the distinguished speakers. Prof. Raghunathan launched the “Book of Abstracts and Mathematics” and “Data Science” book.
Professor Raghunathan insisted that aesthetics was an important disciplining factor in Mathematics. “Scholarship recognises well established works and passes them on to next generation, but unfortunately scholarship in Mathematics milieu is not so good as originality is not concentrated on”. He wanted students to be exposed to a wide spectrum of areas for them to be imaginative and original, the release added.
