Yashoda Hospital hosted a two-day international conference and live workshop on unilateral biportal endoscopy on December 5 and 6. The event, titled Global UBE Con-2025, was inaugurated by badminton player Pullela Gopichand, along with Dr. G. S. Rao, Managing Director of Yashoda Group of Hospitals.
Speaking at the inauguration, Mr. Gopichand said that sports injuries continue to be a major concern in India, with spinal issues like low back pain affecting many athletes. He noted that precision, discipline and continuous learning are essential in both high-performance sport and advanced medical practice.
Dr. Rao said minimally invasive spine surgery has rapidly expanded its scope in recent years and has become a key platform for knowledge exchange among specialists from across the world. Hosting Global UBE Con-2025 in Hyderabad, he said, demonstrated the hospital’s commitment to advancing clinical excellence, surgical innovation and global medical education.
He highlighted the work of senior neuro and endoscopic spine surgeon Dr. Balarajasekhar Chandra, whose extensive experience and contributions to biportal endoscopy have earned him wide respect in the international spine surgery community.
The two-day meeting featured live endoscopic spine surgeries, hands-on workshops, model-based training and case discussions. Dr Chandra said the aim was to equip surgeons with cutting-edge skills that would help shape the future of endoscopic spine surgery.
