Two held for possession of narcotic substances in Chennai

The Thiruvanmiyur police in Chennai have arrested two men on charges of possession of narcotic substances. 

Acting on a tip-off, a special team led by an Anti-Narcotic Intelligence Unit (ANIU) and another team from Thiruvanmiyur police station jointly conducted surveillance near Kamarajar Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur, on Saturday (October 25, 2025). They apprehended Shanthanu, 39, of Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai, for possessing tapentadol tablets, cannabis oil, and ganja. Further investigation led to the arrest of Franklin, 39, of Thiruvanmiyur, who had supplied the cannabis oil to Shanthanu.

The police seized 20 tapentadol tablets, 1 ml of cannabis oil, 1.8 kg of ganja, two mobile phones, two weighing machines, and one car from the accused.

Investigations revealed thatt Shanthanu is employed in a private software company, while Franklin runs a construction business. After interrogation, both the accused were produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
