Two persons sustained injuries after a pickup van carrying fish turned on its side near the Varattupallam viewpoint on Bargur–Anthiyur road late on Friday night.

Police said the vehicle, which was transporting fish in three plastic tanks from Mysuru to Thanjavur, was driven by B. Azharuddin (25) of Thanjavur. While nearing the viewpoint, Azharuddin reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to topple on the roadside.

Azharuddin and another occupant, V. Aravind (31), also of Thanjavur, sustained injuries. They were initially treated at the Government Hospital in Anthiyur and later referred to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Perundurai.

The police said the accident occurred around 10.45 p.m., and traffic movement was not affected.
